Measurements: 3" wide, 21" around
Stretches to fit 23-24" head
Yarn: Wooly Worsted, 95 yards 1 skein (20 Red Poppy)
Needles: US 8 (5.0 mm) knitting needles
Supplies: Cable needle, yarn needle
Gauge: 20 sts to 4" in stockinette stitch
**hint: A set of double-pointed needles is great for this project. Knit back and forth with two then use a third to work the cable in the middle!
Cast on 22 stitches.
Row 1: K1, *P1, K1* rep from *to* across.
Repeat Row 1 until piece measures 10½" from cast on edge.
Work cable: Slip first 11 stitches to cable needle and hold in front. Work next 11 stitches in pattern: P1, *K1, P1* rep from *to* across. Work 11 sts from cable needle in pattern: K1, *P1, K1* rep from *to* across.
Next Row: P1, *K1, P1* rep from *to* across.
Repeat this row until headband measures 21" from the cast on edge.
Finish: Bind off loosely in pattern. Sew seam joining bind off and cast on edges. Look great on any day!
