Saturday Stripes Shawl {free knitting pattern}

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon sipping coffee with your friends. The Saturday Stripes Shawl is the perfect accessory to dress up a basic outfit. Saturday Stripes works up quickly and is so soft in our Wooly Worsted yarn!  

Saturday Stripes Shawl

Ewe Ewe Yarns Pattern #112
Designed by Heather Walpole
Measurements: 38" wingspan; 19" from neck to point
Yarn: Wooly Worsted Washable, Wooly Worsted Washable, 95 yards
Color A: 2 skeins (Color 80 Indigo)
Color B: 1 skein (Color 50 Pistachio)
Color C: 1 skein (Color 70 Aquamarine)

Needles: US 10.5 (6.5 mm) 24" circular knitting needles
Supplies: stitch markers, yarn needle
Gauge: 16 sts to 4" in stockinette stitch

Saturday Stripes Shawl knitting pattern:

With Color A, cast on 3 sts.

Row 1: KFB, KFB, K1. 

Row 2: K2, pm, P1, pm, K2.

Row 3: K2, M1L, slm, K1, slm, M1R, K2.

Row 4: K2, purl across to the last two sts, K2.

Row 5: K2, M1L, K1, M1L, slm, K1, slm, M1R, K1, M1R, K2.

Row 6: K2, purl across to the last two sts, K2.

Row 7: K2, M1L, k to the first marker, M1L, slm, K1, slm, M1R, knit the last two sts, M1R, K2. (4 sts increased).

Row 8: K2, purl across to the last two sts, K2.

Repeat Rows 7 & 8 working the stripe pattern as follows:

Color A: 2 rows more.

Color B: 4 rows.

Color A: 4 rows.

Color C: 4 rows.

Color A: 2 rows.

Color B: 2 rows.

Color A: 2 rows.

Color C: 2 rows.

Color A: 2 rows.

Color B: 2 rows.

Color A: 2 rows.

Color C: 2 rows.

Color A: 2 rows.

Color B: 8 rows.

Color A: 8 rows.

Color C: 8 rows.

Color A: 4 rows.

Color B: 4 rows.

Color A: 4 rows.

Color C: 4 rows.

Next row: Change to Color A and work as for Row 7.

Next row: Knit all sts.

Repeat these two rows another five times. 183 sts on the needle.

Bind off loosely.

Weave in all yarn ends and love!

 

Stitch glossary:

K – knit

P – purl

KFB – increase by knitting into the front and back of the stitch

pm – place marker

slm – slip marker

M1R – insert the needle into the bar between the two most recent sts from back to front. Knit into the front of this st.

M1L – insert the needle into the bar between the two most recent sts from front to back. Knit into the back of this st.

sts – stitches
