OMAHA, NE AND OCEANSIDE, CA – Robyn Devine, author of She Makes Hats and head of Nebraska Hats for Hope Initiative (NH4H), and Ewe Ewe Yarns owner Heather Walpole will partner for the first annual Charity Hat-Along (HAL). Through the HAL the two women will attempt to amass 2,000 hand-knit hats from knitters and crocheters across the country for children living at or below the poverty line.

“I run NH4H, which aims to make and collect hats for the homeless and working poor,” says Robyn. “This year at NH4H we are focusing our attention on Completely Kids, an Omaha organization that works with 2,000+ children in need in the Omaha area. I hope we can give them a hat for every child!”

Robyn and Heather bring a perfect storm of knitting goodness to the world with their spring hat-along, combining Robyn’s love of hats and Heather’s passion for yarn to create not just a knit-along knitters of all skill levels can join, but two free patterns (one knit, one crochet!) perfect for Ewe Ewe’s Wooly Worsted washable wool yarn and charity donation.

“Wooly Worsted is a great yarn for kids,” says Heather. “We offer a bright, fun color palette that kids will love. Plus, the yarn is soft on the skin and is easy to care for if it gets dirty; just wash it and love it again!”

NobleKnits.com has jumped on board as the first sponsor of the hat-along offering 25% off Wooly Worsted yarn and free shipping on all US orders. Local yarn shops are also encouraged to participate in the charity drive by hosting in-store knit-alongs or even slight discounts on acceptable yarns.

Hats will be collected between May 1 and June 30, 2014, and all will be donated to Completely Kids. To find out more information about the charity hat drive, participating yarn shops and where to send completed hats please visit www.eweewe.com/hat-along.
