Santa Bacon, hurry down the chimney tonight! Santa Bacon is sure to bring you and your meat-loving friends lots of Christmas joy. Knit him with some leftover yarn scraps and hang him on your tree.

Yarn: Wooly Worsted Washable, scraps
Color 95 Chocolate 
Color 90 Vanilla 
Color 20 Red Poppy
Needles: US 8 knitting needles
Supplies: yarn needle, crochet hook 
Gauge: c’mon, it’s bacon 

Bacon knitting pattern:

With Choclate, cast on 12 sts.

Row 1: Knit. 

Cast on 8 sts.

Row 2: Knit across all 20 sts.

Row 3: Knit.

Row 4: Knit.

Row 5: Change to Vanilla, K8, K2tog, K4, K2tog, K4.

Row 6: K1, KFB, K14, K1.

Row 7: Change to Chocolate, knit.

Row 8: Knit

Row 9: Change to Vanilla, K2, KFB, K4, KFB, K4, KFB, K4, KFB, K2.

Row 10: Knit across 24 sts.

Row 11: Change to Chocolate, K2, K2tog, K4, K2tog, K4, K2tog, K4, K2tog, K2.

Row 12: Knit across 20 sts.

Row 13: BO 8, K12.

Row 14: BO 12.

Santa hat knitting pattern:

With Vanilla, CO 14.

Row 1: Purl.

Row 2: Knit.

Row 3. Purl.

Row 4: Knit.

Row 5: Change to Red Poppy, knit.

Row 6: Purl.

Row 7: Knit.

Row 8: Purl.

Row 9: K1, K2tog, K2, K2tog, K2, SSK, K2, SSK, K1.

Row 10: Purl.

Row 11: Knit.

Row 12: Purl.

Row 13: K1, K2tog, K2tog, K2, SSK, SSK, K1.

Row 14: Purl.

Row 15: K1, K2tog, K2, SSK, K1.

Row 16: Purl.

Row 17: K1, K2tog, SSK, K1.

Row 18: Purl.

Row 19: K2tog, SSK. Cut yarn and pull tail through remaining stitches. 

With crochet hook chain 20 and attach to back of hat. Work bacon and stitch into base of hat.


Stitch glossary:

K = knit

P = purl

St(s) = stitch (es)

K2tog = knit two stitches together

KFB = knit into the front and back of one stitch

SSK = slip the first stitch as if to knit, slip the second stitch as if to knit, then slide the left-hand needle into the front part of both stitches and knit them together.
