Hello! It’s me, Heather, owner of Ewe Ewe Yarns.

Welcome to a new feature on the Ewe Ewe blog about living a creative life and a few things I’ve found that have inspired me lately. I love to knit and crochet but I also enjoy gardening, cooking, photography and a craft cocktail or two. Some of the things you’ll find in these new posts could range from where I’m knitting, what I’m cooking, and maybe some color inspiration.

Change of plans: Foxtrot Cardigan on the needles!

The 4 Day KAL with Marie Greene is coming in July and I decided to get a head start on the sweater so I could work through the pattern and figure out any good tips or techniques that may be helpful. Plus, I thought maybe you’d like to see how awesome the new Foxtrot Cardigan really is!

Ewe Ewe Wooly Worsted yarn is perfect for this sweater. I am using color 73 Midnight Blue and loving every stitch of it!

If you’d like more info about joining the KAL read the details here.

From around the web: A Knitting Life

I enjoyed this article about Pam Allen and the history of Quince and Company yarn. It’s inspiring to read how another woman entrepreneur started her business and it’s even better to learn about another yarn company!

Spread the knitting bug: The 10 Best Beginner Knitting Books

I’ve had a lot of friends ask me to teach them how to knit recently. Have you?

While it’s fun and easy to show someone how to knit you can’t be there every minute they’re practicing so I like to send them off with a beginner knitting book. A book like any of the ones in this list can not only help the newbie with a problem but it can also inspire them to move on to a new stitch or project as they get better.

Spread that knitting love!

Creamy Garlic and Onion Spaghetti

Creamy Garlic and Onion Spaghetti

What I’m cooking: Creamy Garlic and Onion Spaghetti

I made this delicious onion sauce last week and it was such a hit we have already repeated it! I didn’t put it over spaghetti as the recipe recommends but instead used it as a sauce over sautéed shrimp and broccoli. Definitely keeping this sauce in my short list because it came together quickly and easily with ingredients I always have on hand.

Where I’m knitting: On the bed

Saturday was World Wide Knit in Public Day but I couldn’t make it to an event that day. I did manage to spend a good part of the morning knitting which made up for not getting out later in the day. This is my growing Foxtrot Cardigan for the 4 Day KAL. Seriously in love with it and I can’t wait to show it to you!

I hope you have had a creative week. Leave me a comment to let me know what you’ve been up to!
