Hello! It’s me, Heather, owner of Ewe Ewe Yarns.
Welcome to my weekly feature on the Ewe Ewe blog about living a creative life. Here you’ll find a few things that have inspired me lately. I love to knit and crochet but I also enjoy gardening, cooking and photography. I’ll chat about where I’m knitting, what I’m cooking, and much more!
Yarn shop visit: Alamitos Bay Yarn Company
This week I was on the road and visited Alamitos Bay Yarn Company in Long Beach, CA. This adorable yarn store is situated in a beautiful marina with cool ocean breezes. I was enchanted right as I got out of my car! The staff was friendly and the shop is well-stocked.
I got chatting with some knitters at the workshop table and even went for coffee with one! She and I sat and knitted at the coffee shop for almost an hour. I love that about knitting — we always have something to talk about!
If you’re in the LA area, I’d highly recommend a visit to Alamitos Bay Yarn Company to get a knitting fix.
Around the web: How to Clean Your Closet in 15 Minutes
Do you end up with a pile of lightly worn clothes at the end of the bed or a clutter of shoes in front of the closet door? I totally do!
I found this great article about how to address an overwhelmed closet in just 15 minutes. There are great tips in here about how to divide up the time and tackle each section to get your clothes organized again!
What I’m cooking: Easy White Asparagus
Do you see a seasonal type of produce at the grocery store and wonder what to do with it? I do that all the time and this week I decided to figure out how to cook one!
I took the leap and bought a special bundle of white asparagus. I did a bit of research and decided to cook them with this Easy White Asparagus recipe that adds salt, lemon and butter to the cooking liquid. Since white asparagus has a much more delicate flavor than green asparagus, the addition of those elements lightly seasoned the bundles to a delicious result!
What I’m working on: Ursa Knit-Along
The #BaaBaaUrsa KAL starts this week! I’m really looking forward to making this sweater so I have something fresh and new to wear when the weather starts to change. Right now I’m busy putting together a blog post about how to check your gauge when knitting in the round and I should have that done for tomorrow.
If you’d like to join the Ursa sweater knit-along, check out the supply list here.
I hope you have had a creative week. Leave me a comment to let me know what you’ve been up to!
