A Color Palette with Intention

The IKEA catalog came today and I have to say I’m always more than a little excited when it’s catalog day. I was lucky enough to start my career as a graphic designer with IKEA North America doing graphics for all the stores in the US and Canada. I left to pursue a career in yarn but my passion for IKEA has never diminished. (Read more about me.) Needless to say when I saw the 2018 cover today I went twirling around my house!

Look how perfectly I can match my Ewe Ewe Yarns palette to this color scheme! Ewe Ewe isn’t just a wild idea; it’s a thoughtfully planned out product line where each color has its place and can work in a multitude of ways with many other colors in the line. Thanks, IKEA for this little treat today!

The Perfect Palette September 2016
September color palette

September is the time where we start to slow down. The days get shorter but there’s still a hint of warm summer days. We start to have cooler mornings and chilly evenings where a we need a little something on our shoulders or a boxy sweater to keep us warm. Our Wooly Worsted yarn comes in rich warm tones that pair perfectly with cooling colors to mirror this seasonal swing.

August is warm but we’re having our last breath of summer vacations. Days by the pool are dwindling but it’s a little too early to feel ready for back to school. The sun-kissed pale hues of summer start to mix with deeper shades as we head into autumn. Ewe So Sporty yarn can be knit into soft and airy shawls or sweet sweaters before the weather starts to change.

Summer Color Knitting

Color Theory: Teal

There's something special about teal. It's not green, it's not quite blue. It's just it's own color in between and it has a beautiful, refreshing pop. Here at Ewe Ewe our Teal yarn is perfectly saturated right in the middle. Wear it with black, add some hot pink! Make it a contrast against some fresh white. See what you can make with our Teal yarns!

Color Theory: Berry

It doesn't matter what the season, I always need a little pop of pink. Our Wooly Worsted yarn comes in the perfect shade of warm magenta that's reminiscent of summer raspberries. I've pulled together some of my favorite knitting patterns, accessories and maybe even a pair of shoes that are all inspired by our worsted weight Berry merino yarn. Think pink!

Color Theory: Vanilla

The kids are back in school and fall is fast approaching that means it's time to get back to your knitting. Yay! The general rule is that you should put away your whites after Labor Day but I'm here to disagree. I love a good crisp look and our Wooly Worsted yarn in Vanilla has just the right amount of pop while still having a warm undertone. For some inspiration I've put together knitting projects that can be made with our worsted merino yarn and a few other cute things for fall. Look at all the fun things you can make and wear in cream and white!
