Hello! It’s me, Heather, owner of Ewe Ewe Yarns.
Welcome to my weekly feature on the Ewe Ewe blog about living a creative life. Here you’ll find a few things that have inspired me lately. I love to knit and crochet but I also enjoy gardening, cooking and photography. I’ll chat about where I’m knitting, what I’m cooking, and much more!
Fun event: Visiting The Twisted Skein
This weekend I went on a little California adventure up past Los Angeles to Bakersfield. I had never been to this part of the state before but I’m so happy that I went because I had a blast!
On Saturday I was lucky enough to do a super fun event at The Twisted Skein. Ron and his team rolled out the welcome wagon like no other store has ever done! They had 3 huge tables covered in Ewe Ewe yarn with garments and ideas galore.
I had a great time chatting yarn, looking through patterns and planning new projects with lots and lots of knitters! If you’re ever near Bakersfield make sure you stop by this awesome yarn shop and be sure to pick up a skein of Ewe Ewe while you’re there!
Around the web: Crochet Artist Trevor Smith Crafts Retro-Domestic Appliances from Wool
If the headline of this article isn’t enough for you to click it, take a look at that adorable crochet toaster oven! Crochet artist Trevor Smith crocheted a huge collection of household items including a blender, cassette deck and even bonsai trees.
Keeping it creative: How to Draw Cute Dogs
Since adopting a new dog I’ve become obsessed with all things puppy all over again! I came across this blog post about how to create adorable doggy doodles when you need a moment of creativity.
Running my own business means I always have a planner at hand. Rather than just filling those pages with endless tasks and to-dos it’s fun to stop and doodle for a few minutes.
Having some prompts about what to draw is a great way to unlock a little part of your brain you didn’t know you had, plus when I look back through my planner I can find a page to smile about!
Pattern of the week: Ghosts + Widows
We’re heading to fall and that means it’s time for Halloween knits! I think the Ghosts + Widows beanies is one of best patterns on the entire Ewe Ewe line. Look at those adorable ghouls!
Ghosts + Widows features these cute ghosts along with a creepy spider color chart, too. Make one, make both, knit a bunch of them!
As a thank you to you, my loyal newsletter readers, I’m have a permanent discount code for patterns! Use code: NEWSLETTER20 on Ghosts + Widows or any Ewe Ewe patterns.

What I’m working on: New patterns for fall!
Here’s a sneak peek at a NEW beanie called the Shade Shifter! Now that I offer 25 colors of Wooly Worsted yarn I have lots of new color play patterns coming. I hope to release this one later this week so keep an eye on our emails!
We’re eagerly awaiting our big fall yarn shipment which will be arriving in the next week or two. That means a lot of carrying boxes and counting inventory but it also means we’ll be FULLY stocked for fall knitting!
I hope you have had a creative week. Leave me a comment to let me know what you’ve been up to!
