Hello and good morning! It’s me, Heather, owner of Ewe Ewe Yarns.

Welcome to a new feature on the Ewe Ewe blog about living a creative life and a few things I’ve found that have inspired me lately. I love to knit and crochet but I also enjoy gardening, cooking, photography and a craft cocktail or two. Some of the things you’ll find in these new posts could range from where I’m knitting, what I’m cooking, and maybe some color inspiration.

What I’m cooking: Basic, Bang Up Blue Cheese Dressing

With all the fresh veggies sprouting up that means we’re heading in to salad season. I like to make a batch of this easy blue cheese salad dressing and just pop it in a mason jar in the fridge. It’s great over any salad or as a quick dip with carrots for a quick snack. I’ve even drizzled it over baked salmon as a delightful sauce. Yum!

Knitting inspiration: Ravelry favorites

Ravelry is a massive, magical place for knitting patterns but it can be overwhelming. When I find projects that inspire me and will work for one of the Ewe Ewe yarns I add them to a favorites bundle on my eweeweyarns Ravelry page. This is the one that focuses on the Ewe Ewe sport-weight yarn called Ewe So Sporty.

Find projects like shawls, sweaters, baby items, accessories and more that will work with our yarn!

Finishing up a new sweater design!

Where I’m knitting: On the sofa!

Last week it was bright and sunny outside but this week we’ve had some big spring weather happening. I’ve been tucked up on the couch finishing a new sweater design in Ewe Ewe Fluffy Fingering merino yarn. I just have to get those last few ends tucked in and then I’ll show you!

I hope you have had a creative week. Leave me a comment to let me know what you’ve been up to!

Cauliflower risotto recipe

Cauliflower risotto recipe

What I’m cooking: Cauliflower Risotto.

I love real risotto with the thick, rich rice and cream but that’s not always manageable on a week night so I’ve been substituting this cauliflower risotto for a side dish lately. It’s made from riced cauliflower with garlic and bacon and it’s rounded out with some cream and parmesan to make it extra tasty! I’ve been making it about once a week.

Where I’m knitting: In my garden!

I’m loving the fresh spring blossoms that pop up every day. Being in Southern California has led me to become a succulent gardener but I can’t say I mind because these drought tolerant plants are amazing!

Thanks for checking in with me this week. Leave me a comment to let me know if you’ve tried some of these or anything else lately! I hope you’ve found some inspiration for your knitting and creative life.
