Great Northern Pattern Book Pre-Order Event!

I'm so excited to see one of my favorite designers, Leah Coccari-Swift, publish her first book! Great Northern is a knitwear pattern collection inspired by the TV show Twin Peaks and there's an amazing pillow pattern using our Wooly Worsted yarn in the book.

You may remember when I talked about the inspiration for this pillow design a few months ago. It was awesome to see the finished piece at TNNA and now I'm so excited to see the book soon, too!

Now through July 31 you can pre-order the Great Northern print edition with free shipping. Click through to Leah's blog for more details and to place your order >

Great Northern – A Twin Peaks Inspired Knitting Collection

Our good friend Leah Coccari-Swift has partnered with fellow knitting pattern designer Teresa Gregorio to bring you a retro-modern collection inspired by the cult classic TV show Twin Peaks. The designs in the collection are all influenced by the epic sweaters and visual patterns throughout the many seasons of the show.

We here at Ewe Ewe Yarns are thrilled to be a part of this new book in not one but two ways! First, our plush Wooly Worsted yarn will make an appearance in one very awesome pattern, a throw pillow that takes its cues from the floor when Agent Cooper visits an alternate dimension. Trippy and so cool...

And the second way is as a reward for the Kickstarter campaign! You can get a whole Double Deco shawl kit (all the yarn and the pattern!) and donate to this awesome new Twin Peaks collection. There's tons of other rewards that use Ewe Ewe, too. Pattern bundles, yarn groupings, go check it out!

The Great Northern collection is going to be great because these two designers are great. They need your help to launch their first book and we think this Kickstarter is the funkiest collection on the yarnwebs to date! See the rewards and donate now! >

Let's talk yarn with YarnTalk!

What's more fun to a knitter than talking about yarn? Not much!

My good friend Leah Coccari-Swift (designer of the fabulous Double Deco shawl and many other Ewe Ewe patterns) has started a great YouTube show with two other knitting designers, Allyson and Heidi

Here in episode five they talk about brioche knitting and show off Ewe Ewe's new Wander Which Way brioche scarf designed by Meaghan Schmaltz. Check out this episode and then subscribe to the YarnTalk YouTube channel watch the first four episodes and keep up to date with the new ones!

Wasn't that fun?! I really like the show and I love the knitting inspiration that each episode packs. Good job yarniacs!

Wrapping up the KAL - Double Deco in action

Today's the day! The last day to finish up (or get as far as you can) with this lovely Knit Along.

We've loved every stitch of it. Thank you for taking this knitting journey with us! Seeing your color ideas, progress shots, chatting about techniques-- it's been fabulous.

So... how did we do? Here's my Vanilla-Brushed Silver- Indigo -Orange Peel version:

I knit REALLY LOOSE on this one, and my wrap turned out big and long and luscious. Normally I am such a tight knitter, it was really liberating to just let 'er rip and not worry about my gauge at all. I love how it turned out!

It's been such fun. I hope to keep in touch with you guys for more fun knitting adventures! Follow me (Leah, aka Ruby Submarine) on Twitter, Instagram, Ravelry, and Facebook.

Here's hoping your knitting is going smoothly. I can't wait to see more completed projects! #DoubleDecoKAL

Double Deco KAL Week 6

We're in the home stretch, friends!!! The KAL ends November 11th.

As you work your final stripes, take note of the difference in the last section of Wing 1 -- you will be working your Color A stripe and NOT the color C stripe until after the Wing 2 stripes are completed... then you'll pick up stitches with color C and work your final rows and bind off. This will create the lovely finished edge as shown (the final stripe, Color C, is in aquamarine here):

Make sure you bind off loosely as the pattern directs! A nice stretchy edge is key to keeping the lovely drape of the shawl.

Check in on our Ravelry thread to let us know how you're doing! It's ok if you're behind-- It's a lot of knitting. It'll be worth it!

Next week we'll post about our finished (or growing) shawls. I can't wait to show you how mine turns out-- I'm allllmost done!

Double Deco KAL Week 5

How's it coming, KALers? Make sure you look carefully at your pattern for section 4 of both wings... there is a little difference in how you will complete the final stripes to ensure a nice finished border. We'll look at this more in-depth next week, just a heads up for those of you who might be speedy knitters. If you aren't there yet, don't worry! You still have about 2 more weeks (until November 11th) to complete the wrap on time.
