Hillsborough Yarn Shop {yarn shop interview}

Wooly Worsted Washable merino wool superwash yarn is sold in local yarn shops all over the country and our new series, Yarn Shop Interviews gives a little taste of what knitters like to make with Ewe Ewe!

Hillsborough Yarn Shop found Ewe Ewe from this great Knitters' Review article. Here's what Anne and her knitters are up to at this lovely North Carolina yarn shop.

How long has your shop been open? We opened on October 18, 2006. I am a breast cancer survivor,
October is breast cancer awareness month, in Hebrew the word for life is the number 18 - so the stars aligned!

What does your shop specialize in? We specialize in natural fibers only. I like to tell folks that no
acrylics gave their lives up in our shop!

What kind of projects do your knitters like to make? Our knitters are always looking for a challenge; they enjoy making garments that include the three S's: shawls, socks, and sweaters. Our knitters enjoy colorwork, lace, and working in the round, steeks are no problem for us!

What's your favorite color of Wooly Worsted? My personal favorite color in Wooly is #80 indigo but then again, I'm the gal who thinks black is a color - the darker the better I say!

What's your favorite Ewe Ewe pattern? My favorite pattern is the Preppy Hats pattern for the Boston Whaler hat - a great introduction to colorwork - we've used it for classes and cannot keep it in stock. Did you know you can make two hats with just two skeins of Wooly Worsted?

Shop: Hillsborough Yarn Shop, 114 South Churton Street, Hillsborough, NC
Owner: Anne Derby

Thanks, Anne!

Same yarn and another hat!

I just got a great tip from the Hillsborough Yarn Shop. You can knit two Boston Whaler Fair Isle hats with the Wooly Worsted yarn required to knit just one hat. The Boston Whaler uses one skein for each color in the Fair Isle pattern and there is enough yarn left over to knit the inverse color pattern. For example, if you knit a pistachio background with indigo whales then you could make an indigo hat with pistachio whales. Perfect for twins! :)
