Fun Stuff with Ewe Ewe Yarns

LYS Day is this Saturday, April 27th!

Local Yarn Store Day 2019

Local Yarn Store Day 2019

LYS Day is a special holiday just for knitters and crocheters to show local yarn shops (that’s what LYS stands for if you’re new to knitting!) just how much we love and appreciate them. It’s a special day dedicated to the stores that make this hobby their livelihood.

To celebrate LYS Day 2019 we have a new project that is only available in a yarn store! Meet the new shawl I designed called Something About Phoenix:

This easy-to-knit wrap uses 4 balls of Ewe So Sporty merino yarn and is going to be one you’ll love to wear! Something About Phoenix will be FREE on LYS Day when you purchase your Ewe So Sporty yarn to make it at your local yarn shop.

How much yarn do I need?

Start by choosing your favorite 3 colors of Ewe So Sporty Merino yarn and see how they play off each other. One main color is held throughout and striped with a secondary color for each wing of the shawl.

If these are three colors that you wear all the time, decide which one is the main color and grab 2 balls of that. Pick up one ball of each contrasting color for the right and left half of the shawl.

With 25 shades to choose from, the color combinations are endless! Look at this beautiful blue version. Sapphire was held throughout the shawl with Sky Blue on the first wing and Midnight Blue on the second. Keeping your yarn choices in the same color family makes a no-fail combo, too!

January Events: Speaking + Teaching

Hello, friends!

It's a fresh new year and I'm getting "out there"! I have two events scheduled for January and I'm really looking forward to them. I'll be speaking at the San Diego North Coast Knitters Guild on the 9th and teaching a color theory class at Yarning for You on the 20th.

San Diego North Coast Knitters Guild

Meeting: Tuesday, January 9, 2018 1:00 to 3:30 pm

Where: San Dieguito United Methodist Church, 170 Calle Magdalena, Encinitas, CA 92024

I will be the guest speaker for the general guild meeting! I'll be talking for about an hour about how I started Ewe Ewe Yarns, we we've come, and looking toward the future. I'll also tie in a project that uses the fun color palette of our yarns.

Membership is required for this guild but the yearly fee is only $25 and they get great speakers through the year!

See sandiegoknitters.com for more info about this event.

Hues You Can Use: Choose the Right Colors for Your Knitting Project

Time: Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 9 am to 12 pm.

Where: Yarning for You, 1001 W San Marcos Blvd. Ste 180, San Marcos, CA 92078

What we're up to: As knitters and creative people, we often find ourselves drawn to a specific set of colors, but why? We can use the principles of color theory to explain this and even help choose which color should be the main color of a project and which should play a supporting roll. We’ll apply this new knowledge to a picking the colors for a scarf and swatch our new technique! The pattern is included in the cost of the class and will be provided at the class.

Skill level: Any level welcome!

Fee: $45

Materials: 1-2 balls of 3 colors of Ewe Ewe Yarns Ewe So Sporty yarn. (Picking out your colors is part of the class and will be done during class).
US 8 (4.0 mm) knitting needles

Sign up: See class page for more details and call Yarning for You at 760-744-5648 to register.

I hope to see you!
