The Sand + Sea Hat is one of the first patterns I designed for Ewe Ewe Yarns and it’s still one of my favorites and an all-time bestseller!

It’s a simple color work hat that makes it easy to get started with a new technique and it’s just a fun project.

How about a quick pair of cable wrist warmers! I love the Born to Be Warm mitts because they are so fast to knit and they don’t require a cable needle. Woohoo!

The stepped cable stitch pattern is fun to knit and keeps you moving right along.

Born to Be Warm mitts are worked in the round up to the thumb hole and then you work a few rows back and forth to make the opening. My friend Sally at …have you any wool? in Berkley, MI did a great job on her Brushed Silver pair! I love her photo where you can really see the graduated cables and the thumb opening.

Did I mention these wrist warmers are a 1-skein wonder? They are! Grab your favorite color of Baa Baa Bulky merino yarn – 17 to choose from! – and whip up a pair now so you’re ready to walk the dog on a chilly autumn morning.

Meet the Ursa sweater! The designer, Jacqueline Cieslak describes this as a “bear of a sweater – chunky, bold, snuggly, fierce,” and I totally agree! I love details on this cropped pullover and I am dying to knit it for myself.

I think it looks so fun to make and even better to wear. I can imagine throwing it on over a tunic and leggings or maybe a long sweeping dress just like Jacqueline. It’s so cute!

Ursa will knit up perfectly using Ewe Ewe Baa Baa Bulky merino yarn. My friend Jesse at Knit One, Crochet Too started one in Sky Blue and, let’s be honest, I totally got cast-on-itis when I saw this photo:

GAH! Don’t you just love it? I want it. The accent stitches really pop and the sweater looks like the squishy dressed-up sweatshirt of my knitting dreams.

I’m going to make Ursa and I hope you’ll join me for a new knit-along!

Free Pattern Friday: Black Dipped Beanie in Baa Baa Bulky merino yarn

Black Dipped Beanie FREE knitting pattern

Black Dipped Beanie FREE knitting pattern

The Black Dipped Beanie came about when I asked a friend what color she liked. Her answer was, “black with darker shades of black.” Ha. Ok…

So I set about to make a black beanie but I just couldn’t do ALL black so she got a black beanie with a brighter pop of color! You know I love some pops of color.

I think it turned out pretty great and she really loved it so that was good, too.

All in all the Black Dipped Beanie is a quick knit, great for gift-giving and sized for the whole family! You could get 2 balls of Baa Baa Bulky and swap them around to make a couple of hats. I think this hat took me about three hours to knit at a leisurely pace.

Browse through our color selection of Baa Baa Bulky. You can use Black Licorice for the bottom portion of the hat and add your favorite shade (or your friend’s favorite shade) to the top. Or pick the two colors that you love most! You can’t really go wrong.
