The unofficial start to summer is here and I thought we’d celebrate with the magnificent Ewe So Summer shawl! Ewe So Summer was a huge hit as our the 2018 LYS Day project and now that it’s 2019 the pattern is available everywhere. Yay!

Meaghan Schmaltz designed this shawl to have a playful color blend from beginning to end. Even though the pattern looks like it might have stranded knitting, it doesn’t! The shift effect comes from slipping stitches and alternating colors on different rows. Basically, exciting stripes!

Now, let’s talk about my favorite topic: COLOR COMBINATIONS! 😍

I think the possibilities for color mixing is endless. Check out our Ewe So Sporty yarn to find a combo you love or take a look at the kits I created!

Maybe you’d like the original Ewe So Summer combo or maybe you’d like a brighter, cooler palette called Ewe So Spring?

Or perhaps you’d like a moody Ewe So Autumn shawl with rich Charcoal running throughout. Or a super icy Ewe So Wintery shawl might be your favorite to wear!

Take a look at all 8 color combinations on our kit page. There’s even a few tonal options with pretty blues and greens. See Ewe So Summer shawl yarn kits.

Each Socks on Saturday highlights a sock pattern that you can use to knit yourself a pair of socks with Ewe Ewe Fluffy Fingering yarn.

I’ve really had a thing for the light and lacy lately! These new Firre Socks kept catching my eye on Ravelry this week so I just had to share them.

Inspired by Shetland fir cones, Joanna Ignatius designed the Firre Socks with a beautiful lace motif to mimic those majestic trees. The solid colors and great twist of Ewe Ewe Fluffy Fingering yarn really lends itself to showing off this stitch pattern.

Saffron would make a pair of socks like the photo but I don’t think you could go wrong with these socks in any color! They’re stunning.

Plus, the sock pattern has instructions for cuff down or toe up knitting. How great is that?

Looking for a light and lacy tee for spring and summer? Look no further than the wildly popular Tegna knitting pattern from Boyland Knitworks.

This sweater is a showstopper! From the flowy fabric to the beautiful lace hem, you’ll be sure to wear this tee all year round. Think how nice it will look in the summer and how pretty it would look as a shell under a jacket for work in the fall.

Fluffy Fingering merino yarn from Ewe Ewe would work perfectly for Tegna. The gauge of the sweater is a loose 22 sts over 4” which I get using a size US 6 needle. That means this project would knit quickly and practically fly off the needles!

Any color of Fluffy Fingering yarn would work so well in this project! Choose a neutral like the Charcoal one above or go for a bright Berry, springy Saffron or rich Red Velvet.

Plus, it’s a great price point in Fluffy Fingering. You’ll need 4 to 7 skeins depending on your size which works out to be $40-$70 dollars for a new, gorgeous top you’ll wear again and again.

It’s totally time to think about a fresh tank for spring and summer! I found the Cara tee knitting pattern by Amy Christoffers and I think it seems really relaxing to make and even better to wear.

Cara a-line tank top knitting pattern by Amy Christoffers

Cara a-line tank top knitting pattern by Amy Christoffers

Cara has a great a-line shape creating a slight flare from the natural waste to the hip making it easy and breezy. I love it paired with the model’s casual jeans, too!

I browsed around on Ravelry and there are lots of cute color combinations. I like the vanilla and pink and the same thing in reverse! You could also do vanilla with purple stripes or what about classic black and white.

Ewe So Sporty yarn from Ewe Ewe would work perfectly for the Cara top. You can go with the great original and use Vanilla as your main color and Sky Blue as the contrasting color stripes. Or try that pink option!

Or maybe you’d like a tonal look. A Lavender top with Iris Blossom stripes? An Aquamarine top with Soft Sage stripes.

You could try a more classic look like Vanilla with rich Red Velvet stripes. What about a preppy Wheat and Midnight Blue top? I could do this all day!

I think you could whip up these socks in some cute colors of Ewe Ewe Fluffy Fingering merino sock yarn. I’d put together Brushed Silver for the sock, Wheat for the crust, Saffron is the cheese and Red Velvet can be some smoky pepperoni. Delicious!

Or you could go brighter and have Vanilla socks to mimic the pizza box, Wheat crust, Citrus Pop cheese and that smoky rich Red Velvet pepperoni.

Have fun with the colors because pizza IS fun! Mmm, pizza…

What to Make: The Daily sweater by Andrea Mowry

Welcome to our weekly feature, What to Make Wednesday! The yarns here at Ewe Ewe are so versatile and I love to share ideas about what you can knit with them.

The Daily sweater designed by Drea Renee Knits

The Daily sweater designed by Drea Renee Knits

Ewe Ewe designer and my favorite person, Meaghan Schmaltz just finished knitting her own The Daily sweater by Andrea Mowry using Baa Baa Bulky Merino yarn. Isn’t it awesome?!

I think it looks great.

Andrea’s sweater has a pretty, muted feel but you know how I love saturated colors. Here’s a peek at the lovely original modeled by the designer herself.

The Daily sweater pattern by Andrea Mowry on Ravelry

Meaghan is Andrea’s tech editor (I know, what a job, right?!) and when she saw The Daily slide across her desk she thought it was so great that she leapt at the chance to test knit the new design!

I have to say, I agree with Meaghan! I think this sweater looks incredibly wonderful to wear.

Meaghan choose Ewe Ewe Baa Baa Bulky as her yarn for this project and she got gauge perfectly on a Size 10 needle. She used the colors Black Licorice and Wheat to make a great basic for her closet.

We have 17 colors in Baa Baa Bulky now which means there are so many options to make this amazing sweater! I’ve put together a few ideas here. Take a look!

I love that Saffron and Brushed Silver combo to wear with jeans.

What if we choose some color with color? You could do our rich Teal with Soft Sage for a green tone. Then I was thinking of Cotton Candy and Orange Peel together because I did it in this baby sweater and I kinda want to wear it myself!

You could add some Indigo to your Wheat. Or maybe you’re thinking a bit of a spring fling is in order — wouldn’t Aquamarine and Sky Blue be so cheery? Yes!

Color mixing is so fun and here at Ewe Ewe we plan all the colors to work together so go ahead and give it a try for yourself. If you have a question about which colors you might like you can always email me and we can figure it out!

Choose your colors: Ewe Ewe Yarns Baa Baa Bulky Merino yarn.
