Marie Greene wearing her new Foxtrot Cardigan pattern

My friend Marie Greene of Olive Knits is kicking off the third annual 4 Day Knit Along on July 4th and I’m so excited! The new sweater pattern is called the Foxtrot Cardigan and it’s SO cute.

The Foxtrot Cardigan will knit up perfectly using Ewe Ewe Wooly Worsted yarn and I think the design looks like something I’d constantly want to wear. It has an easy fit, adorable wavy front bands and that fun dancing lace around the body.

This KAL will be a little bit different than the other ones we’ve done here at Ewe Ewe. Since Marie will be hosting this one you can follow along on her blog and get support on her amazing Facebook group. But! I’ll still be here, writing blog posts, posting photos, answering questions and knitting the Foxtrot Cardigan right along with you. YAY!

4 Day KAL Details

Ok, so you might be thinking… 4 DAY KAL? Four? Days? Really?

Yes, it’s a fun idea, but also, no, you can knit the sweater at your own pace. There are no rules, just a fun summer knitting party.

Marie has a schedule all planned out for us with a Kickoff Party on July 4th and the festivities run through July 18th where she’ll be hosting a Closing Ceremonies. You can read all about it on her blog.

Right now is the time to get your yarn, buy the pattern pre-order, and check your gauge!

What to Make: Ewe So Summer shawl by Meaghan Schmaltz

Welcome to our weekly feature, What to Make Wednesday! The yarns here at Ewe Ewe are so versatile and I love to share ideas about what you can knit with them.

The unofficial start to summer is here and I thought we’d celebrate with the magnificent Ewe So Summer shawl! Ewe So Summer was a huge hit as our the 2018 LYS Day project and now that it’s 2019 the pattern is available everywhere. Yay!

Meaghan Schmaltz designed this shawl to have a playful color blend from beginning to end. Even though the pattern looks like it might have stranded knitting, it doesn’t! The shift effect comes from slipping stitches and alternating colors on different rows. Basically, exciting stripes!

Now, let’s talk about my favorite topic: COLOR COMBINATIONS! 😍

I think the possibilities for color mixing is endless. Check out our Ewe So Sporty yarn to find a combo you love or take a look at the kits I created!

Maybe you’d like the original Ewe So Summer combo or maybe you’d like a brighter, cooler palette called Ewe So Spring?

Or perhaps you’d like a moody Ewe So Autumn shawl with rich Charcoal running throughout. Or a super icy Ewe So Wintery shawl might be your favorite to wear!

Take a look at all 8 color combinations on our kit page. There’s even a few tonal options with pretty blues and greens. See Ewe So Summer shawl yarn kits.

What I’m cooking: Basic, Bang Up Blue Cheese Dressing

With all the fresh veggies sprouting up that means we’re heading in to salad season. I like to make a batch of this easy blue cheese salad dressing and just pop it in a mason jar in the fridge. It’s great over any salad or as a quick dip with carrots for a quick snack. I’ve even drizzled it over baked salmon as a delightful sauce. Yum!

Socks on Saturday: Firre Socks by Joanna Ignatius

Each Socks on Saturday highlights a sock pattern that you can use to knit yourself a pair of socks with Ewe Ewe Fluffy Fingering yarn.

I’ve really had a thing for the light and lacy lately! These new Firre Socks kept catching my eye on Ravelry this week so I just had to share them.

Inspired by Shetland fir cones, Joanna Ignatius designed the Firre Socks with a beautiful lace motif to mimic those majestic trees. The solid colors and great twist of Ewe Ewe Fluffy Fingering yarn really lends itself to showing off this stitch pattern.

Saffron would make a pair of socks like the photo but I don’t think you could go wrong with these socks in any color! They’re stunning.

Plus, the sock pattern has instructions for cuff down or toe up knitting. How great is that?

What to Make: Tegna by Caitlin Hunter of Boyland Knitworks

Welcome to our weekly feature, What to Make Wednesday! The yarns here at Ewe Ewe are so versatile and I love to share ideas about what you can knit with them.

Tegna lace tee knitting pattern designed by Caitlin Hunter

Tegna lace tee knitting pattern designed by Caitlin Hunter

Looking for a light and lacy tee for spring and summer? Look no further than the wildly popular Tegna knitting pattern from Boyland Knitworks.

This sweater is a showstopper! From the flowy fabric to the beautiful lace hem, you’ll be sure to wear this tee all year round. Think how nice it will look in the summer and how pretty it would look as a shell under a jacket for work in the fall.

Tegna knitting project by LDirk7 on Ravelry

Tegna knitting project by LDirk7 on Ravelry

Fluffy Fingering merino yarn from Ewe Ewe would work perfectly for Tegna. The gauge of the sweater is a loose 22 sts over 4” which I get using a size US 6 needle. That means this project would knit quickly and practically fly off the needles!

Any color of Fluffy Fingering yarn would work so well in this project! Choose a neutral like the Charcoal one above or go for a bright Berry, springy Saffron or rich Red Velvet.

Plus, it’s a great price point in Fluffy Fingering. You’ll need 4 to 7 skeins depending on your size which works out to be $40-$70 dollars for a new, gorgeous top you’ll wear again and again.

Choose your color combo: Ewe Ewe Yarns Fluffy Fingering Merino yarn.

Finished circumference at bust: 35.5” (38”, 43.25”, 48.25”, 53.5”, 58.5”, 63.5”)

Fitting notes from the designer: This sweater is designed to be slightly oversized, with approximately 5-10” of positive ease around the bust. The sleeves are fitted, so make sure you pay attention to the sleeve circumference when choosing your size. (Schematic is provided in the pattern.)

Yarn Amounts: 4 (4, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7) balls of Ewe Ewe Fluffy Fingering merino yarn
